A salute to the Clone Trooper known as Fives:

"You were good, son, real good. Maybe even the best."

"Disobey" and "can't obey because you are frozen for 50 years" are not the same....

Palpatine: "Execute Order 66."
Rex: "Nah, I'm gonna do my own thing."

I actually like how canon dealt with Order 66. It makes the Clones look even more sympathetic, but also made Palpatine come off as more insidious (pun intended) than the Jedi could've imagined

Wait, Grey did execute Order 66 though. Both in the Bad Batch and the Kanan comics. We see him shooting and kill Depa Billaba.

What's tragic about Fives is that he warned Anakin about Palpatine plotting to kill the Jedi by turning the clone armies against them. Not only did Anakin not believe him, but he ended up participating in the Jedi's destruction anyway.

*Palpatine* : All clone troopers will obey order 66 and kill their Jedi!
*11 random clones* : Oh, I don't think so

There was actually a small army of clones on Kamino that disobeyed Order 66, and the 501st were sent to execute them.

Palpatine: the time has come, execute order 66!
Cap.Rex : Nah, I don't think so

Technically Rex complied with the order at first but Ahsoka and some astromech droids nocked him out and then removed his chip

Especially many clones disobeyed the Order 66 amongst the ARC-troopers, since it was, in fact, a special forces, from the very beginning their way of thinking was so much more independent, and unpredictable, than that of ordinary clone-troopers.They were independent to question the given orders, if they though, that there was better way to fulfil current objective.

I find it kinda badass that Clone Commandos are just basically immune to the effects of the chips.

I don't think Fives should really count since he was
... dead

Fives was easily one of the most heartbreaking deaths in all of star wars, men cried that day 😔

That guy probably: "Dobby merely meant just to maime or harm."

By definition none of them really disobeyed Order 66. A select few clones did have different circumstances surrounding them that caused them not to obey or chose to become deserters after the initial order was given.

Grey did execute the order then became a deserter after the occupation of Ryloth.

The Bad Batch were the only ones that didn’t initiate the order as their deviations were stopping the chips, except for Crosshairs and later Wrecker.

Kix wasn’t able to execute the order as he was frozen. Not disobedience but never receiving the order.

Similar circumstance to Cut as he never got the order either for deserting first.

Gregory’s mental state after the Rydonium explosion probably caused him to disobey even if he received the order.

Rex did execute Order 66, but tried what he could to resist the chips influence which failed up until Ahsoka got the chip out of his head.

Fives did find out about the plans when his chip was partially activating, but the execution never happened as that order was never given at that point of recognizing the Sith grand plan.

Now in Legends, since there wasn’t any chips it was more or less a way of clone thinking to follow orders. The original “Good soldiers, follow orders.” mentality of being a true loyal soldier without the chips influence. The lack of chips then was what lead to a greater number of clones refusing to execute Order 66 especially the Clone Commandos as they were more free thinkers than the standard clones.

There was also that clone who was stranded on a mostly unpopulated planet until Luke discovered him and he joined the rebellion. As a result of his isolation he obviously wasn’t able to carry out his mission during order 66.

I feel so bad that the clones were used as Cannon fodder and then were smeared as betrayers . They're are so many clones who fought valiantly and gave up their lives.
