BJP and AIADMK will contest the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections as part of an alliance. The announcement was made by BJP national president JP Nadda at a meeting of the party's core committee in Madurai on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, JP Nadda held a public rally in Madurai. The BJP national president visited the Meenakshi Temple on Saturday and paid his respects to freedom fighter Deivathiru Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar Ayya before addressing a meeting of the core committee of BJP's Tamil Nadu unit in Madurai.
