Highway Code Rule 195 - Give Way to Pedestrians and Cyclists Already on the Crossing - NT55 HVA

Rule 195 of the Highway Code states:

You MUST give way when a pedestrian or cyclist has moved onto a crossing

This driver obviously hasn't read the Highway Code since passing his test, assuming that he's actually taken a test in the first place.

Maybe he didn't realise that what you were using was part of the crossing. It is an unusual crossing.

Pointless having crossings if these people are ignoring them

You didn’t exactly give them a chance to see you and stop, you just came out of a concealed cycle path and you were hidden possibly behind the A pillar and just went straight onto the crossing!
You should still only attempt to cross when vehicle’s have stopped not everyone is aware of the law changes and when I’m walking i still wait for traffic to stop before crossing.

highway code rule Rule 18
At all crossings. When using any type of crossing you should

always check that the traffic has stopped before you start to cross or push a pram onto a crossing

you failed to do so, you made the mistake not the car. try to read the highway code

I probably would've let the Lexus pass, just to be one the safe side. These days, there's a pretty high chance they're watching a tiny screen instead of the road.
