Both companies discussed potential launch timing for new consoles in statements published on Wednesday as part of UK regulator the Competition and Markets Authority’s ongoing investigation into Microsoft’s proposed acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

The company announced the record on the official PlayStation Twitter account, claiming that 5.1 million copies had been sold through in its debut week.
This makes it the fastest-selling first-party launch for Sony, and naturally makes it a “franchise record” for the God of War series too.

The last time Sony declared a game its “fastest-selling” at launch was The Last of Us Part 2, which it stated was the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive.

I'm glad theyre going to wait an extra year. PS5 and Xbox Series still haven't even gotten going yet. Xbox doesn't have a single game that you can't get on last gen hardware. PS5 only has like three: Ratchet & Clank, Returnal, and Demon's Souls
