My favorite America song. Written by Dewey Bunnell
Lyrics:
Sometimes late when things are real and people share the gift of gab between themselves
Some are quick to take the bait and catch the perfect prize that waits among the shelves

But Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That he didn't, didn't already have
And Cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of Sir Galahad
So please believe in me

When I say I'm spinning round, round, round, round
Smoke glass stain bright color
Image going down, down, down, down
Soapsuds green like bubbles

Oh, Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That he didn't, didn't already have
And Cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of Sir Galahad

So please believe in me
When I say I'm spinning round, round, round, round
Smoke glass stain bright color
Image going down, down, down, down
Soapsuds green like bubbles

No, Oz never did give nothing to the Tin Man
That he didn't, didn't already have
And Cause never was the reason for the evening
Or the tropic of Sir Galahad

So please believe in me

Oz never give nothing to the Tin Man, that he didn't already have. One of the greatest lyrics of songwriting.

I served in VIET NAM 1968/1969, flew back on that freedom bird and back to world 1970. This one particular song calmed me down a little. After listening to RUNNING through the jungle" good and bad memories. Piece to all in this jungle!!!

I was 9 years old when this song came out. I’m crying because it reminds me when life was simple. I would visit my grandparents every summer in small town North Carolina and listen to the radio with my grandparents and cousins.

I'm 27 and I went to see them live yesterday in Tunica, Mississippi. Man they've still got it. Opening it with "Tin Man" and closing it with "Horse with no name". just We used to listen to them in a Radio speaker back in India with my brothers and seeing them live yesterday was just the dream man!!!. Probably me and my friend were the only one's in our 20's when the whole crowd was 50, 60+ lol. The beer was good and so was the

I'm an African American woman and I love classic rock music. It's the only thing that's alive and needs to be appreciated more by listeners of this modern world.

1972 when this was released. And it still sounds good. Music that was pure and simple, yet pleasing to the ears. Thanks for the good music America!

There will never be a band with harmonies like this, again. So grateful to have seen them in concert.

These guys were all of about 22 years old when they did this song. Amazing level of sophistication and maturity in the production for such a young age!

This song jogged a memory for me of a much better time during my childhood, with my parents and siblings. My parents are gone, but this song reminds me of how much I love and miss them. Thanks America for the Tin Man!

Growing up during the hot sultry summer days of the 70's on the Northside of Milwaukee in a predominantly black community...running around playing dodgeball in the yard while dad rocked this song and his Afro...pork chop sideburns and bell bottoms jeans! Flipping meat on the grill while mom sat pretty in the shade swatting the mosquitoes away! Oh...the memories! Love this Beautiful Song! 💖

Back in the 70s there was an explosion of good music all around. I had America's album and Parliament-Funkadelics. I had Earth, Wind& Fire and the Moody Blues, I had Jethro Tull and the Ohio Players, etc. Good music was good music and the 70s was the greatest musical decade for all musical genres. So glad that I came of age in that decade!

All I have to do is close my eyes, and it's 1973 again...this song has certainly "weathered the test of time, " as they say.
