I have a camponotus pennsylvanicus queen but it's first batch of hatching are drones. May i know is there a way to re-introduce male ant for mating or is it too late to get it fertile?

My queen has a bunch of eggs together and there is about 10 of them, but there are some Lying around like about 3 eggs. I am not sure if she really is fertile.

Will queens still fly after they’re mated, like before they settle down?

I have caught two ants with wings, it came to my bathroom at midnight attracted to light I guess. But the problem is I can't confirm whether it's a queen and I don't know of what species it is. I tried to take pictures but idk how to take macro pictures (i have a DSLR with kit lens). I can't see it's thorax well, it has a long abdomen (not bulky), it has wings on, it's black. My guess is it's the queen of a black tiny ant, I can see alates that are way tiny which I think is the same species of the ants I caught. Can anyone tell me how I can identify the species and tell whether it's a queen?

Very good information. I caught 2 pogonomyrmex rugosus queens without wings; u assume they're fertile, but they never laid eggs. So I released back to their original colony.

Also; queens that r fertile, when they lay eggs, they'll guard over their eggs. They'll put all the eggs together, & hover protectively over them; only leaving the eggs to forage, & feed. Fertile queens never leave their eggs scattered. Otherwise, they're 24/7 covering their eggs protectively. These behaviors r signs of a fertile queen. Fertile queens have expended tremendous amounts of energy, & resources to laying eggs; they'll do everything to keep them safe.
