I repair pallets at work and we use freshly cut pine planks, sometimes they have a thick red sap and in summer those things freaking get so stuck together its ridiculous. We’re big men smashing them on the ground and hitting them with hammers sometimes breaking the boards and a few of them still manage to stay stuck together.
Its as amazing as it is freaking annoying.

This is pine resin, not pine pitch. Pine pitch is otherwise known as pine tar and is extracted from old pine stumps by high heat baking in an airless container.

Pine resin is a very good thermally mouldable substance, basically a natural hot melt glue. Pine Pitch has a tar like consistency and colour and is a great waterproofing and preserving agent and used to be used for sealing ships as well as many other things. It is also the origin of the nick name for British Royal Navy sailors who used to use it in their hair while at sea (a Jack Tar).

Heads up, this stuff is as flammable as gasoline, and it is a great way to start a fire in the rain.

for more delicate things like fabric, leather or furs you can make glue with fish skin/swim bladder or animal hides. its super easy to make and use just take your fish skin or hides boil them down till its a thick consistency and brush it on and to remove it all you need is hot water so its not going to leave a residue or anything like that. alot of furniture makers pay top dollar for sturgeon swim bladder glue for that exact reason

Pine tar soap is used for soothing skin…Tincture of tar…drugstore…not sure how it’s made…but comes from pine tree…was used in vaporizer when I was a child to open airways when I couldn’t breath from asthma attacks. Was also used in bath for soothing skin from allergic reactions, welts, and itching…AMAZING STUFF!!!❤️‍🔥🙏🙏🙏❤️‍🔥

Also a natural antiseptic and waterproof, good for sealing cuts and bites.

Another thing you can do if you wanted to be efficient, use a metal heat safe bucket so you can reuse it later to collect more. More points if you own a bit of woodlands with pine trees in it that you are leaving as woodlands.

This is how I glued my head to the floor. Still stuck, 26 years later!

Be sure to note take ALL the pitch from the tree, or else the tree can rot from the wound!
Pitch is a method trees use to heal their wounds, it will replenish so long as the tree has water!

“ Some household items, just walk out into the Forest and collect Pine tree “.
Mf I live in Phoenix Arizona. It is a barren wasteland. 😂

I made some with charcoal and used it to reattach the metal bit on my paint brush.
Worked like a charm

Thanks for the reminder, Nate. The pine tree is a super source for many things.

Pine pitch is also medicinal, it's good for toothaches, infections, joint pain and inflammation but you must be very careful when using it.

You melt some on an unbleached paper bag, heat it up enough to stick to skin but not enough to burn you, it's a fine line but once you have it on the joint or infection it will stick there until the inflammation is gone.

It can even get pull out sebaceous cysts if you don't mind a circular scar where ever it came out.

When I played outside as a kid I would always build forts using broken branches and sometimes I’d use just simple sap as adhesive to hold stuff together! Mother Nature provides everything for us

Pine tar/pitch is also extremely flammable and can be used in a fire starting kit or an emergency fuel source for heating and cooking. Pitch is so flammable that when heated then soaked into dry wood or logs, it will produce a long lasting and high heat source that is easy to ignite. It ignites with ease and burns at high temps and spatters when doing so, so be careful when using it. It’s kinda like Natures napalm, lol. Anyways, alohas everyone and have a blessed day and have fun with your pine tar and be safe.

It also burns like a mothafucka, so be careful when heating it up to use.

Great for starting fires and also a good burn salve.

Been used for thousands of years for a reason. Stays solid through wind and wear.
