I've been riding for 7 years - now on a Yamaha MT10 - but I still watch these rookie videos because there is always something one can do to make your ride better, smoother, silkier and safer and I'm not too proud to learn.

My instructor called the friction zone the bikes G-Spot 😂

This video was for me specifically. I'm the target. I've 400 miles on my first bike. Love these short videos with exactly what I need to hear.

Same principle applies to manual cars. I've driven nothing but stick shifts my whole life, started riding a month ago and this came naturally to me after just a couple hours of riding. my take off from a stop has gotten a lot smoother by doing this.

This technique is best learnt and processed by muscle memory when doing slow, stop and go drills. They make a difference.

For those learning, another thing to learn about that really helps to smooth out the ride is to learn how manual transmission works. Once you understand what’s going on in there, it would come naturally

My uncle noticed me doing this when I first started riding. Often time I'd either stall or have a jerky launch. He had me spend about an hour and a half at a mall parking lot to get it right

I went out and practiced this, but my wife says I've still got a lot of jerkiness. Weird thing is, she's never seen me ride.

i learned (saw) this on an RJ video (love him, fantastic bikes with even better skills), i noticed how he didn't pull the clutch all the way during shifts (that was when he wasnt bangning through them with clutchless shifting) and i had so many questions. As i've thought about it i figured out that you indeed, only really have to bring the clutch in to a ceirtain point, that being the friction-zone. Takes some time to get used to it after shifting the less efficient way for such a long time, but definitely worth the buttery smooth shift you get after some practice.

Loving these short and straight to the point videos. Thanks for all the hard work Eddie.

I don’t use the clutch after first gear, unless I’m down shifting.

As an European, where the majority of cars are manuals and you have to do all the 30 hours of driving school on a manual it’s mind blowing to me that people don’t know this.

When u learn and understand these clutch techniques, you ride very smooth and is really comfortable. Even to your passenger. Im training to one day thinks Im riding a scooter haha

Correct! I like to keep my lever on the friction spot when taking a tight turn. It makes me feel confident to know I’m sending power to the rear wheel.

I've been looking for a video like this forever. Been riding almost 1 year and still jerk, especially 1 to 2. I couldn't figure out why. THANK YOU! Please keep up the good work..

I do like your videos, It is also interesting the difference between Carb and injection when it comes to pulling away. Carb is like a dimmer switch, injection is like an on/off switch. New riders to tend to stay on the clutch too long aswell.

My bike got delivered on Monday and I am literally doing this every time, this is the CRAZIEST suggested vid in my whole time on YouTube. This answered the question I asked in my head so specifically 😳

This ive figured on my own, but your previous video about throttle control and linear wrist movement opened my eyes! best of luck LwG!

I struggled a lot with this at the MSF, I guess I (and apparently many others) got the impression that you can just snap the clutch and roll on the throttle like you're in a movie. Being methodical and deliberate with both of your hands isn't as exciting, but it's a mindset you really gotta drill in when operating a motorcycle.

Everytime I clcik on one of these MotoJitsu videos, I start feeling like I entered a performance review. I mostly leave with a sigh of relief, but that feeling. Thanks for keeping me on my toes!
