The unknown story of Greek philosopher Plato’s death may have been unveiled from a newly deciphered ancient scroll, according to Italian researchers.

The Herculaneum papyrus scrolls were charred after being buried under layers of volcanic ash following the eruption of Mount Vesuvius.

The volcano erupted in 79 AD, killing thousands and destroying Roman settlements near modern-day Naples.

The scrolls continue to be examined by experts using artificial intelligence.

Applying the word "mansplaining" to a man and culture that predates the term by over 2300 years is stupid enough. But actually misusing the term (he was criticizing, not mansplaining) demonstrates abject ignorance.

Mansplaning? Plato simply said he didn't like the music because of its lack of rhythm? So, is men disliking any female music a crime now according to the BBC?

Mansplaining what? Plato was expressing his opinion

"You suck, " Plato said - then he croaked. Everyone's a critic.

Incredible! The great Plato was seconds away from death, and about to give the world his last word - the culmination and conclusion of his lifework, and then she played like a drunk bird?! It's pretty amazing they could pull this knowledge out, and add it to History!

The show 60 Minutes did a segment on how a US scientist actually developed the technology and methodology to read the burnt scrolls but that the Italian scientists were trying to take credit for the discovery.

Disappointing closing comment. Still remarkable discovery, I hope they don’t go trying to dig him up or anything though.

The caster ia mocking Plato's last words, while missusing basic slang.
Poetry.

What an extraordinary discovery the mansplaining comment was completely unjustifiable. saying “ she didn’t have enough rhythm in her flute playing” is not a comment on her gender but an opinion on musicality. Woke taking minor things to an extreme when there are actual misogyny in the world that needs attention.

You couldn't resist putting at least a little bit of wokeness there at the end with the mansplaining bit now did you?

Don't be so mad over the ''Masplaining'' comment, brothers.
If we get easily offended by every trivial word, they will do the same

This effort, led by Graziano Ranocchia, Professor of Papyrology, University of Pisa, is entirely separate and independent from that of the Vesuvius Challenge, spearheaded by Brent Seales, professor of computer science at the University of Kentucky, and uses a different technology.
