ChipMonk January 2023 Small Batch Caramel Sandwich Cookies Review

In this video, Terry and I review the two newest small batch cookies from ChipMonk Baking - the chocolate caramel cookie sandwich and the vanilla caramel cookie sandwich. We also let you in on what the upcoming small batch flavors will be.

Both Terry and I were recovering from RSV when will filmed this (which is why she looks tired and I sound congested). I can assure you that our taste buds were working just fine.

King cake is a Louisiana/Mardi Gras thing! My hubby is from La and that is one thing he really loves from there tho it's been years and years since he had an authentic one! It is absolutely delicious and they put all the Mardi Gras colored sugar crystal sprinkles on it. It has a white glaze on it and the flavor profile makes me think of a cinnamon roll... They used to have a tiny baby toy figure inside, and I have heard different things as to what is special about the person that finds it in their piece... On a side note The other thing hubby misses from Louisiana is a beignets from Cafe du Monde. You can't get one anywhere near here that compares (we are in East Tennessee). -Arminda

King Cake is a translation from the French "Gallette des Rois". You will find it everywhere in France from late December until roughly now. In most of France it is a puff pastry filled with frangipane and has a small figurine hidden inside. The person that gets the figurine in their piece gets to wear the paper crown that usually comes with the gallette when you buy it.

King cake is a New O4leans thing. It's a Bundt cake made for Mardi Gras that has a tiny candy baby baked in. If you get the baby when you eat it, u r the one who has too make it the next year and bring itt to the Mardi gras celebration.

"King Cake" cookies will likely have Cinnamon flavor, possibly with a cream cheese component... maybe with finely chopped nuts. There are many varieties, actually, but Cinnamon seems to be the most common.

King Cake is part of Mardi Gras / Fat Tuesday celebrations.
Similar-ish to a less sweet Cinnamon Roll/Cinnamon Swirl Bread, generally shaped into a ring or oval form. They have a white frosting & are sprinkled with Gold, Purple, & Green Sanding Sugar.
It also has a little plastic baby inside. The person who gets that is "King for the Day", & has to bring next year's cake.

They're a pretty big thing in LA, TX, & MS. Obviously huge in New Orleans.

I do a modified Keto version in a Bundt Pan. Mine's more like a Vanilla-Cinnamon Swirl Cake than Cinnamon Swirl Bread.
Probably about time for me to revamp that recipe!

King Cake is a Louisiana thing. I’m from Louisiana. If you find the baby or the coin in some cakes you have to buy the next King Cake. They are filled cakes in an Oval shape and are usually decorated with icing and colored sugar granules of purple, yellow or gold and green..💋🧚🏻‍♀️❤️🇺🇸

I never really understood why there was a question about pronouncing carAmel.
I'd love to visit Carmel-by-the Sea in California though.🤣
Some history: the word is derived from the 18th-century Spanish turned French word caramelo, car-a-mello. North American English speakers adoped the "car" pronunciation from the original word, whereas British speakers tend to pronounce it as cara-mel.🤷‍♀️

I love your kitty. I count net carbs but I pretty much stay away from a tiny food that is that high total carbs. The cookies don’t look that good. It is good that they make a chocolate and a vanilla, because each one of you have a favorite. I love carrot cake. I did not see that review. I will look for it. How expensive are they? Thank you for your reviews.
