Off the coast of Sweden on Gotland Island, a road powers and charges an electric bus on the go - wirelessly. The technology was created by Tel Aviv-based Electreon, where they are turning streets into charging pads. It is currently being tested in Sweden, Italy, Germany, and soon on a one-mile stretch in Detroit.

Combine self running generators and power walls in homes and businesses for seemingly endless clean energy everywhere all the time. Imagine billions of clean energy sources all running themselves the items around and the power grid.😎⚡

Like it. What is the net range? Infinate

Far more expensive than charging at home, and repairs would be a nightmare. I doubt this will be used for anything other than EV buses.

So they sent a reporter to Sweden for 10 seconds of film?

They can use this tech along with self driving cars as well.

What's the efficiency? How much electricity is lost?

Ok, good idea. Now take the Lead (PB) pipe from the USA and create Gravity generators that are charged by solar and wind to power them.

Hmm... the only problem is it would limit where one of these road charged vehicles could travel. I like flexibility and sometimes I drive to the middle of nowhere.

Will the American DOT embrace this new technology?

Cool idea, but the government won't even spring for EV charging stations, so this will never happen.

ive been saying we should be doing this for years. im so glad somebody out there is willing to try it out

Oh, sure.... Even here in Canada, roads often are so potholed as to render them painful to drive on. So making each kilometer of road cost HUNDREDS OF TIMES more than before to pave and maintain is absolutely not (sarcasm) a recipe for disaster/ wasted money.

We're don't need every road to be equipped without tech, only certain roads and possibly certain freeways to accomplish this. It's totally possible and the tech is only going to get better so investors listen up". If you have the means to invest" do so, because this is a good money back investment, And a long term one. It's gonna take a generation to convert roads all over the world to this technology. After that it's trains and rail roads.

My concern would be the electrical exposure ie what if someone with pacemaker drove over it? Studies have shown problems arising in households and agriculture too close to electrical substations etc

Feasible here in the US? Of course, but would turn every equipped road into a toll road! Gotta get that life time of taxes going in as many areas as possible !
