He was only 23 bless him, he was the best!
It was a lovely military service, they did him proud!

This became my favorite hymn in my freshman year at BYU in 1969-70. I was the conductor and another freshman was my pianist. With the accompaniment providing personal embellishments and the brethren singing with such vigor, I felt the power of the spirit in music as never before and it has remained my favorite ever since.

I just love this arrangement - starting with one voice, then building to another, and yet a third, then all the men and finally both men and women - just so powerful and an example of the Spirit of God being spread from one to another. I'm not sure if this or Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing is his best arrangement.

As a member of the Restoration(a split off of the RLDS) I am thrilled to be listening to this. The hymn holds such a special place in the Saint’s and my heart. Though we sing this at a quicker tempo, it’s just beautiful to hear!
