Thousands of New Zealanders go paddling along on our coasts, lakes and rivers every year.

Nothing compares to the adrenalin rush of being on the water – but things can go wrong.

Always wear a lifejacket when paddling and, in these chilly winter weeks, a wet suit is also a must.

Remember to dress for the water temperature, not the air temperature. Cold water shocks and hypothermia can kill.

Know before you go, to ensure you come home safe.

If you're injured in an accident in New Zealand, whether it's relatively minor or something more serious, we're here to give you care and support so you can get back to everyday life.
