Man, I love Andy Serkis.
He is one of the finest Englishmen in the show business.
His work is so underrated because his face is rarely shown as he is almost always behind a mask or altered by CGI.

He is a top class actor, the fact that he wrote the book on motion capture acting slightly overshadows his genuine ability. The truth is the CG hides the man because his talent is that of a chameleon.

he got his inspiration from his cat - his cat came into the kitchen when Andy was trying to find a voice for this character. His cat starting throwing up furballs - Andy observed the cats spine ripple and that involuntary motion of a cat throwing up furballs and yeah...that was his inspiration.
