For the first video in this series, I'll be comparing Orlando Package deals for International Drive Orlando hotels with Virgin Holidays, Hays Travel, Ocean Florida, Kenwood Travel and TUI. Travel day will start in Manchester airport on Monday 3rd May 2021 for 14 nights (direct flights only). I've picked what I think are the most popular value hotels on I-Drive, which are the Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando, the Avanti Resort, the Rosen Inn International, and the Endless Summer Surfside Inn and Suites, and the Endless Summer Dockside Inn and Suites.

Anyone coming from the UK, avoid central Florida in June, July, August and September. It’s painfully hot and humid and if you come for a 14 day vacation, you will likley see thunderstorms for at least 10 of those 14 days. Thunderstorms in the theme parks are particularly problematic because they tend to have thunder before and after it actually rains and this can cause extended ride closures.

March and April are best. The weather is pleasant and it almost never rains.

Wait until the second or third week in April or go in May if you are going to the water parks.

Great comparison video. It has really opened my eyes to consider booking holidays using the smaller travel companies instead of the larger expensive ones like TUI or Virgin. Would love to also see some price comparison videos between Disney area offsite hotels and Disney onsite hotels. Lastly, maybe some price comparisons between the different ticket providers e.g. Disney, Attraction Tickets etc.

Just to add, I first stayed there back in 1983 when it was a Quality Inn, its nothing special but ideallly located for Universal and good value compered to elsewhere in the area.

Great Video.

Rosen hotels are a good chain, not too expensive either so good value and better than many hotels in Orlando, the locations vary, I like the international drive area and the Rosen Pointe Orlando is my fav, being central and lots to do within walking distance. No worries about driving so if you fancy a few beers, perfect!. Busche gardens defo worth a visit, and you can check out the beaches nearby as well or even spend time down there for a few nights by booking a twin centre holiday.
St Petes Beach is nice, Clearwater Beach, the Gulf Coast is warm and calm, linking to the Caribbean islands. It's even possible to price & book a twin centre holiday online with Kenwood Travel, id defo look into that one.

Rock on Frugal, nice job....

Thank you for this. A very niche topic so I really appreciate you covering this!

I don’t pretend to be an expert and I don’t have a clue about how you put out such good quality productions at the rate you do . But you obviously have a good fan base at 3.6k subscribers, which I am sure will continue to grow with the content you seem able to publish . I hope you are able to continue to be successful to the point where maybe you can focus on this full time . Other u tubers like “Allears and DFB have a team solely dedicated to production and management . I am guessing your doing this all yourself so just keep doing what your doing and keep up the high standards of items you put out . In my view you seem to have a good recipe for success and have a good angle in a very crowded market place . Just thought I would give you some honest, unbiased feedback and to realise you have a gift for this . Wishing you well for your future .Keep it up 👍

Thanks again for another insightful video. Definitely interested in that area and that time of year but are hoping to fly direct from Glasgow. Which I know will be more expensive 😬. Had never came across kenwood travel during my research. Appreciate you highlighting another potential avenue. Look forward to the next post. 🤗

For me you did a great job 👍 Well done . As someone who had stayed in 4 out of the 5 hotels featured I think you were on point with the plus sides of value resorts ( no resort fees and free car parking ) money you can spend in the parks or doing something special on your Florida Holiday . Looking forward to the next review price point . FB 👍

Hi excellent Vlog as always.
Yes the Rosen Inn international was first hotel on international Drive or Hamilton Drive as it was named at the time.
It was first called the Hamilton Hilton hotel and then renamed to the Quality Inn international and what it is called now.
The gentleman that built it his name is Finley Hamilton and name the road Hamilton drive but as it was being used already he renamed it to International drive.
I have a video that played for almost 3 hours on the history of international drive.
My favourite Hotel on international drive is Avanti hotel been there a few times now.
Keep up the good work.

Great vid mate, ive stayed at the rosen inn International twice, or quality inn international as it was when i was last there. as dated as it may look compared to others, i enjoyed it, was clean, comfortable, felt cozy at night when we had a quiet night, was in a great area for shops, grocery shopping, attractions, restaurants and transport etc..dennys next door and ihop not far opposite :) plus we walked to universal from there with it being closer..its a nice walk esp at night seeing the lights and view of idrive. id definitely consider staying there again,

Thanks for doing these guides. We still can't make our mind up which hotel to stay in. We really don't want the road noise.

Great vid! I'd love to see a guide to doing both WDW and Universal in a fortnight. Seems tricky to find a good deal based on my own research so far.

We should be in the Avanti right now (damn you covid).
Anyway we stayed there in May 2019. Lovely hotel with a fantastic location to evening entertainment and restaurants.
Fingers crossed our trip for next May can go ahead 🤞

Hi frugal, always love the content, we was supposed to do risen but changed to holiday inn, We’ve done avanti palms, and thought it was poor, we did holiday inn the year before, the one on the 535, downside it was on the wrong side of the i4, but it would spank the avanti, next year 10 days in cabana with British airways flying with them £2380 four 4 of us. I don’t think tui are doing enough when it comes to Orlando to compete with the rest, and transfers are ridiculous prices.

sorry for this late comment, i live in blackpool so it take around 1hr to get to manchester depending on traffic, but i've noticed that flying from gatwick with british airways is very cheap so we might make the effort to drive up there. it so unfortunate that BA don't fly from manchester as it's so cheap from Gatwick! would you recommend booking a airport hotel before the day we fly as it will take 5-6 hours to get to London? our flights are at 15:00, thank you
