My November Destashify Makes and Fabric Haul

I sewed up two amazing jackets this month with my Destashify fabric. Not only that, but I grabbed two new fabrics from them this month as well!

For your jacket closure: I was thinking that you could use hooks & eyes, covered (blanket stitch) with the matching thread like fur coats. There are various sizes to choose from and you could also make a loop rather than use the metal one. All of which gives you options for how you want your jacket to work for you. You can add buttons to the sides of . . . or up at the top of the front opening for decoration. Lots of fun! Thanks! 🌺

I love both of these jackets! Great job as usual! Personally, I would leave the Lady Jacket as is. It already has a lot going on and doesn’t need any additional embellishment. My vote is the Seamwork Erica for the floral fabric.

Hi Whitney l love both jackets, especially the Orange one. My idea for this jacket is.... Frog closures 😀. I know you have buttons but that is an idea! Both jackets are cute on you, great work Whitney!! ❤️

Love both your jackets but the front/back wool one is the star. I agree with Jenny that the alternating colors on the sleeves is a happy accident. I also do t think it needs any further trimming. Would have loved it if you filmed interlining the PE jacket, even if just at stages.

There are some really fun frog closures out there. Even some of the metal clasps that you see on Scandinavian sweaters would look cute with the orange jacket.

The lined barn jacket is so useful and the colors are fun! I'm inclined to leave the lady jacket as is, with the alternating pattern it has enough going on. I prefer the Grafton dress for the pretty floral.

Regarding your jacket closure, buttons on one side and I have used colored elastic hair ties for loop closures.

Have you ever seen a lined snap? It’s done on fine coats often. You could use scraps of your jacket or any fabric that matched or camouflaged- all you see is the little stud or hole. Then you hand sew the snap to the garment thru its lining fabric. I have often seen grosgrain ribbon used to “line it”

I think the wool jacket is complete the way it is. If you want buttons, you could use Rollo(sp) loops on the opposite side.

Really enjoyed this - such lovely sewing (as usual!) I think buttons and snaps so you can close. (Love that they are both Australian pattern companies haha)And the new fabrics are beautiful too. I think the Grafton dress would look fabulous

Love these two makes, esp the barn coat—the color, the style and how great it looks on you. I do think it will bug you to not have lower pockets, it would me.
