A dreamy and somewhat nostalgic atmosphere around this piece. Really beautiful piece, to me it feels like the melody needs a lot of freedom with rubato. (at some places it's even written in the score). It's I think the first piece by Linko I played on this channel.
(1889-1960) was a Finnish pianist and composer.

Linko became a student in 1909 and studied piano at the Helsinki College of Music from 1909 to 1911 under Sigrid Schnéevoigt and Karl Ekman. From 1911 to 1914 he studied composition and music theory in Berlin and St. Petersburg , and from 1924 to 1925 in Paris.

Linko gave his first concert as a pianist in Helsinki in 1913 and performed all over Europe, and for a long time was a professor of piano at the Sibelius Academy. He was the rector of the department from 1936 to 1959. In addition, he held numerous positions of trust in music industry organizations. In 1920, Linko made a concert trip to the United States with Väinö Sola . Lingo's pianist students included Antti Aarnela , Einar Englund , Meri Louhos , Seppo Nummi and Tauno Äikää .

Composition production often focuses on classical expression and seeks inspiration from Baroque composers (e.g., Domenico Scarlatti ) and compositional forms (e.g., fugue ). The artistry and colorfulness of the piano are highlighted in four piano concerts (composed in 1916, 1920, 1931 and 1957), which have been performed quite rarely in concerts by Finnish symphony orchestras. In addition to piano works, Linko wrote a number of chamber music works and one symphony ( Symphonie chévaleresque , 1949).

You are an absolute hero to me (us),
bringing to light all these gems, and so beautifully played…

The subtlety of these sounds is exquisite and soft. The sounds that the composer created through his mind, soul and hands, seem like sonorous precious gems for all that appreciate beauty of music...
Thank you for share with us.

Yo, this music is stunning, what the hell? Sounds like Sibelius with a Very Distinguished Limp, or his ne'er-do-well relation across the Woods.

Hi Julian; interesting composition. Congratulations on your executive work. For the rest I think it is a shame for me who reside in Italy not to be able to download and view the compositions of this composer for copyright that does not make public domain possible, as indeed in the European community. I don't find it right as I believe that musical art must belong to everyone. Are you Canadian or American out of curiosity? Thanks for the attention. Greetings from Italy.

Ciao Julian; composizione interessante.

Hi, You might be interested in the music by George Aitken as it looks like you haven't done any of his works, I just found him on ISMLP!

Ascolta Julian: secondo te sarebbe un azzardo chiederti di potermi passare qualche lavoro pianistico di questo interessante compositore? Grazie.

your touch makes this music sound so great, but it's not so simple to achieve that rubato and dynamics control, and to imagine you don't sell your music bust simply post it here on yt for free, so based, even surreal a bit

why not to open patreon and do suggestions of people in order based on their donations

Listen Julian: do you think it would be a gamble to ask you to pass me some piano work by this interesting composer? Thanks.

Can feel a bit of Debussy here. Funny thing is that in public he only endorsed Bach and Beethoven, and distanced himself from French music....
