Electronics Thermal Management: How to Simulate Radiation Heat Transfer

This webinar introduces our radiation heat transfer simulation features for electronics cooling. In this webinar, you learn how an enclosed LED heat sink design is simulated and optimized in SimScale’s cloud-native platform. Our specialists demonstrate a full thermal analysis of a passively cooled LED module including material selection for the radial heat sink, with and without radiative paint.
The demo includes how to:
- Import and modify a 3D CAD model for use with CFD on the SimScale platform
- Efficiently mesh the model and create a simulation
- Set up the boundary conditions including gravity, enable radiation, and assign materials
- Define operating conditions and run a design study
- Postprocess and visualize the simulation results
We show how to answer critical design questions such as:
- Is the design sufficient to keep the LED junction temperature within operating and safety limits?
- Which heat sink material provides the optimal cooling solution?
- Why is simulating radiation critical in electronics cooling applications?
