THE DROP is a new crime drama from Michaël R. Roskam, the Academy Award-nominated director of BULLHEAD. Based on a screenplay from Dennis Lehane (MYSTIC RIVER, GONE BABY GONE), THE DROP follows lonely bartender Bob Saginowski (Tom Hardy) through a covert scheme of funneling cash to local gangsters - "money drops" - in the underworld of Brooklyn bars. Under the heavy hand of his employer and cousin Marv (James Gandolfini), Bob finds himself at the center of a robbery gone awry and entwined in an investigation that digs deep into the neighborhood's past where friends, families, and foes all work together to make a living - no matter the cost.

I went into the theater not knowing anything besides it's from the writer of Gone Baby Gone, and Mystic River...and that Bane finds a puppy. DAMN this movie was good. Excellent story, and I even look forward to anything this director films next. Awesome Brooklyn based drama.

Oh, Jimmy, how we miss your talent to shine upon us in this dark hole we live in, to ease our pain and show us that things are not so black and that there is a different way, a way of cathartic purification through art, a place on the top of the mountain closer to sun or god, name it as you like. My heart aches when I see you here and for a moment I believe you are alive. But that sweet pain is more valuable then all of this harsh talentless and boring reality.
