I had a 1991 Toyota Celica Gtr 2.0L for 21 years with absolutely no problems, I bought it second hand with 24k Km on the meter. I was going to keep it as a classic car, (here in Cyprus a car must be at least 30 years old & in factory condition without any mods to be eligible for classic car registration - get road tax discount). Because of its age I needed to pay a lot for insurance & road tax, finally I sold it when it was 25 years old with only 89k Km on the meter - ('cause it was my leasure car - only for the weekend car) to a collector a Toyota mechanic. I really miss that car, I have photos.

Toyota has confirmed that roughly 102, 000 Tundra pickups and Lexus LX SUVs with the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 will get new engines.

I used to work for an established crankshaft manufacturer in the UK, once the crankshaft was finish ground it's inspection was vital.
The cleanliness of the shaft was vital, they go thro' a wash machine to flush out metal swarf from all oilways, even very small fines can destroy the bearing shells. Cleanliness is a key process in engine builds

You are right about rock auto. I have had success with them over the years and the one time I had to return a part, I had zero issues. You gotta do your research on parts.

Also another point to bring up is that when you get metal in a turbo engine that metal runs through the turbo and destroys the turbo bearing also

Turbo engine? No thank you. Scotty taught us to only buy naturally aspirated engines 😮😮😮

Rock Auto used to note when a part was the OEM but I havent been on there in a while so they may have changed that. But yes they do sell OEM and after market products on there. Sometimes I cant find OEM for my saturn so I have to buy after market ones. I took my car to a mechanic who found a clutch pedal from his dealership network for over $500 but I could have gotten an aftermarket one that looked identical for $71. Sure the one from him was an OEM and a miracle he found a clutch for an almost 20 year old car that they dont make anymore but at the same time its an almost 20 year old car they dont make anymore... I dont plan on keeping it for the rest of my life so if the after market one works for a few years that should be longer than I own this car.

Toyota does not realize that the us public does not want a turbo either, they want the V8 to return but gov regulations say otherwise

I've bought a few parts for my 1985 Celica from RockAuto, and I normally go for the most expensive part on there. I bought an Aisin water pump and AC Delco timing belt. I try and avoid the cheaper parts.

If they built electric cars like they do Locomotives, electric cars would work and be a positive vehicle for most uses, maybe even trucks, but it would have to be built like a locomotive.

My oldest brother graduated college with a lot of other mechanical engineers. Those that went to work for the car companies figured out how to get 100mpg back in the late 60's and early 70's. Their bosses told them they would not be allowed to build vehicles like that. By the way, you have to engineer failure rates into the major components.
