Alright! Imagine you have a rubber duck and a small rock. If you put both of them in a bathtub full of water, what do you think will happen?

The rubber duck will float on top of the water, right? It's like it's sitting on a little water chair! That's because the rubber duck is light and filled with air, making it less heavy than the water it pushes away. This is called "floating."

Now, what about the small rock? If you put it in the water, it will go straight to the bottom of the bathtub. That's because the rock is heavier than the amount of water it can push away. So instead of sitting on top like the duck, it sinks to the bottom. This is called "sinking."

Floating is like being a light balloon that stays up in the air, and sinking is like being a heavy backpack that pulls you down to the ground. Some things like to float, and some like to sink, depending on how heavy they are compared to the water.
