The grafting can be done on a base tree that isn't a rose plant?
I ask because I've seen rose trees with a base tree that doesn't look like it was a rose plant. It is like a Three inches wide and a brown color. I've never seen a rose tree that big.

when i pruned rose it it gets black at tip is it normal and will it stop?

i understand if you want to pump out a hundred dreaded grafted rose pots in a gardens centre
but why else would a normal person wish to keep doing this.
to shape the bush unnaturally?
like bonsai?
add different types all on one bush ?

A Root stock system
of
Rose miltiplication
is used only for
COMERCIAL Reasons.

... so that you can produce few hundted tousand stright, nice standardised sticks
( from rootstock roses).

Ordinary roses doesn't make very nice and stright branches.

A Rootstock patch
10x20m. Can produce those big numbers
because ....
they grow like a bamboo sticks,
2-3 + m long, nice and stright. (No branches on them).

Orfinary bushes
you use only to supply
thpusandz of buds for grafting. You need only few hundred bushes to provide that supply.

( To produce 100.000 or 200.000 bushes you would need
Thens of thusands of rose bushes.... if you
skip Rootstock system.)
