Very cool looking dam/flood control structure. I'm a little surprised they haven't fenced it up given that weird top baffle with the deep water in it?? If i was 14 again, I'd probably have already been in there swimming around like the youthful idiot I was... GREAT STUFF AS USUAL.

Used to work at a dam outside of Corpus Christi... got to fish areas like this and caught tons of fish. After 9/11...Homeland Security was established and shut all these areas down, ..even to us who worked there.

Yep, the force of the water pushes those drainage doors open. Water goes out, nothing goes in.

I use to fish at a power plant. You could throw your cast net and fill a five gallon bucket with shad in a couple cast. I once threw my net and caught a 6 pound and a 2 pound largemouth in one cast. I caught a fresh water drum that was probably 50 LBS maybe a worlds record but I didn't realize it then. Sadly they shut off the area now. You can still go up in there in winter and catch Stripers 20 to 30 LBS or bigger.

Did you have permission to go climb around fence to cast net some fish? I probably would've came with cops and have you charged with trespassing and fishing without a state netting permit!👮
