You could've said the same thing about Matthew Stafford in the Lions years. Suddenly he gets to the Rams and his efforts pay off. He didn't become good overnight, he just finally had a great team around him. Brady gets bounced by the Titans in the first round of the playoffs, joins a new team, and handily beats Patrick Mahomes for the easiest Superbowl win he's ever had. It's because the team was much better.
