I am a child of the 50’s and still have model c and box from the 50’s. I don’t have the insert unfortunately. And coincidently I picked up a model e in a antique mall. It was $20 and at checkout the said it was half off. Great part time hobby. I love looking at the reels every once and a while. Probably have 200 reels. Don’t need them all. I Enjoy the channel.

Hello, is there a way to open the model e? The plastic lens/shield is bent on mine. Ty

Well This was a "Blast From the Past" :) I too grew up in the late 50's / early 60's. Thought View-Master were cool Have been searching for a Model E _WITH Box !. The boxes are so rare.

Model E reminds me of the Ladies Horn rim Eyeglass with Rhinestones.. ha Maybe we need to Bedazzle our view-masters :) Hey, Quirky is Chic.

I just found this model E at an estate sale. It works just fine. However, it’s quite dirty inside. How do i open it up and clean it without damaging it?

I have one of these, just wondering is there a way to disassemble them or add some lube to the spring?...Mine is super loud and I'd love to quiet it down some.

Glad to see this in the Facebook group View-Master Collectors. Excellent information, a lot of history I didn't know about. My favourite part was actually the box. I hadn't seen one, like the artwork, and the descriptions you gave. Booklets would also be a fascinating look into the uncommon for me as well. Maybe a rarity guide? I'm not sure how easy it would be, but I'd like to see some reel pictures, or cell samples to see what kind of reels are out there. I hadn't realized there were even astronomy slides until recently. The channel title "Seann Ashley and the Viewmasters of the universe" is brilliant.

Thanks for these videos. Very informative. Just one thing - Bakelite is pronounced more like "bakerlite". 3 syllables. 👍
