LP Artist, Pete Lockett demonstrates the LP Udu Drum Claytone Tambuta (LP1400-TB). Developed by master ceramicist, Frank Giorgini, the clay construction of LP Udu® Drums are based upon centuries-old African traditions. This single chambered drum with a bell can be played by hitting any part of the drum with the palm of the hand or the finger tips. The textured surfaces provide additional tonal variations by creating rubbing sounds.

I think this one is my favorite of the bunch. It has the most contrast between the highs and lows, and it's likely the most versatile...very cool!

what mic did you use? how would be a few best ways to mic this in a live set up? especially if im sitting on a Cajon and need to have access to other instruments.

This guy doesn't understand how to use this drum to get a good bayan sound (the characteristic whoop sound of the larger of the two tabla drums), nor how to use the hole to get different pitches. He is just bopping it vertically. He also doesn't do proper rolls.

As for me, my favorite LP udu is the utar. Fantastic bass. I use it on a concert snare stand with a mic at the mouth. It adds a ton to my world percussion set.
