Most shooters use some variation of this, where the reload is actually done before the animation is. In Destiny on snipers the animation of pulling the bolt back is long enough you actually have time to shoot a whole rocket before your shot would be ready, and it's the meta boss DPS strat right now

Same thing can be found in Overwatch with some characters, however we usually cancel by just using melee as it is faster to initiate and complete compared to apex.

I remember trying to get this kind of reload off with the pk but I used a zipline, didn't think holstering then equipping would be fast too!

In games like Fallout 4, there are annotations called "initiatestart" and "reloadend". Usually they are placed much earlier than the actual end of the animation so that players can quickly start firing even before the animation ends. I feel like that is what is going on here.

I've been doing this since Overwatch
Wherever a character reloads (most notably reaper for me) you can just melee and not have to worry about the whole animation

There is a glitch of wraith phase when you use phase and when revenant uses his silence on you and you can hold your gun while in phase (maybe this would be fixed but this happened to me)

It’s pretty much that you put mag in weapon, then it’s reloaded and you don’t have to do anything else afterwards

i found a bug in control where if you emote wattson fences nearby turn off, not permanently i used valkyrie when the glitch happened in hammond labs

One of the biggest utilities for this is swapping weapons mid fight as soon as the ammo counter in the HUD shows it's full, it can save you later if you wife your whole mag like i do
