In 2019, James Hetfield donated his car collection to the Petersen Automotive Museum. James has always been a car guy and shares his car journey to one of the coolest custom car collections around. Hetfield, has described seeing cars in the same way he sees music: as forms of freedom and expression that convey the passions of their creator.

Best known as a co-founder, songwriter, singer, and guitarist for the heavy metal band Metallica, James Hetfield has also gained recognition in the automotive world for his unique collection of entirely bespoke vehicles. While the vast majority of collectors acquire vehicles by purchasing pre-existing examples, Hetfield elected instead to build his from scratch, channeling creativity often reserved for his music into the production of rolling sculptures.

James is such a well spoken man. I'm happy he was able to overcome those horrible events in his childhood. My respect for him is ever growing.

"I'm a dad, husband, I am a singer and guitar player for a band called Metallica...". This statement speaks volumes.

The fact that James can look fondly back at memories of a father that left says a lot about him as a person

I love that every time I see Hetfield introduce himself he says "I'm in a band called Metallica". It makes him sound genuinely humble to me.

0:55 He said “A band called Metallica” as if they’re were a small not famous band

I can't believe how much he's aged over the last 10 years...scary. Then again, I was 17 when I discovered Metallica, and now Im 50...how did that happen?

I just love listening to him talk. Explains his song writing. He’s such a great story teller. He engages you and takes you into his world.

I’ll never forget being at a Metallica show and him reminding people that we were all Metallica family, no matter what color of your skin and that there was no room for hate in the family. A legend in music and a hell of a human being. He rules 🤘

"That's cool but I could do better" is spot on and how we should inspire others and especially youth. That is how we progress as a society. If a kid said that to me I would grin and say "Do it" then I would really smile when they proved it.

I don’t think James and his western fans know how many Metallica fans are in a tiny country called Nepal 🇳🇵 .
I spent all my teenage years rocking out to Metallica with my buddies in Nepal 🇳🇵.
