As a millennial, I remember seeing this for the first time with my siblings in reruns of Reading Rainbow, and it went down in family infamy cause it was so goofy, and now waddya know, I'm a 32 year old woman crying at this video and the kindness of these adults to work so hard to show us kids something so beautiful wtf. I guess...it worked you guys. Congrats, and thanks.

just remembered this pure nostalgia gem after finally getting to watch the Reading Rainbow documentary. I’m a total old school PBS kid. And LeVar dancing to a “Flashdance” inspired music video with a message? So amazing.

My brain feels funny after watching this. I saw a section of this song in a documentary and I could’ve sworn there was a firefighter scene, so I had to look it up. It’s been almost 40 years since I last saw it. I was obsessed with the show, so it was quite impactful.

Randomly popped into my head as well and I immediately thought about Mrs. Alvarez from Doris Reed elementary School in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to be in her 5th grade class 1990-91 and she let us watch "Reading Rainbow" every day. Best year of my life ❤
