Unschooling feels bad decision for many people because that triggers ability & responsibility of parents to raise their kid perfectly in all ways which is truely challenging & most parents indirectly dont want to take risk because back of the mind they know they are actually not capable in all areas of life.

We made the same decision. My daughter is learning well. Got registered under NIOS national institute of open schooling. Her tuition teacher teaches some of the subjects online. And I am teaching her other skills including life skills. Now schools are becoming education mafiya... Not all good values are being taught there. They are interested in high fees and paying less to the teachers. There are many challenges but homeschooling is the best compared to schools.

Look the other side of studying subjects like physics chemistry and especially Maths is to grind and wiring the brain scope for deep logical and complex thinking, it will help the child in other fields as well
Best option would be to teach the kid at home ( all subjects), and have open exam through CBSE or ICSE

To survive the basic knowledge of Physics Chemistry and Mathematics is indeed necessary.

Well i agree the current education system is really bad and mugging up does not help, but I think at young age we may be attracted to some profession which we may find cool and it may or may not be the career we end up succeeding in. Just like if he is interested in English, yes giving importance to learning English is good but not exploring other domains of education like physics is wrong, he may have inborn talent in physics.

At such age, kids don't know what are really meant for

I think a lot of these commenters here are living in their own wonderland world. Just because your school life was amazing, doesn't mean everyone's was. Most likely your kid won't live your dream school life and would have horrible experiences that will directly affect their mental health in future. Please don't be so close minded and invite new possibilities. Maybe research first with real life examples and not just assumptions you made in your head.
"School is essential for developing social skills" yeah I went to regular school, it absolutely destroyed my mental development and I have social anxiety now. My parents would have immediately put me up for homeschooling if they had known about it back then.
Most homeschooled kids actually are better at social skills than regular school kids. I suggest letting them go in regular schools till 4th grade and if they face trouble adjusting then you can think about home schooling.

If your kid has any kind of disabilities, PLEASE consider homeschooling. I garantee you thode schools or teachers do not care about your kid and will instead treat them as a burden.

I would definitely connect with you two, because I am also thinking to put my kid in unschooling journey. Because I think school makes children dull. They just stop kids from thinking differently. I know how my mind is conditioned by influence through schools, universities, amd how the competition has crept in me, and now i cannot even uncondition myself.

Homeschool is better than sending your child to school if you have money and are educated. You can get tutors for math and sciences and teach the rest yourself.

School system might be not the best. But not sending him to school won't be the best choice as well

It needs great courage and the rare commodity called commonsense to take such a decision. No children do not need formal schooling to survive in the game called life. A persons true natural talent can be discovered when he is left on his own to carve out the path for himself.why be influenced by external sources like schools or peer pressure. Its more better for a child to be guided by his parents.

Although I really love this idea, sometimes I wonder if the children miss out on dealing with others like him his age and could possibly lose a chance to develop social skills? I'm happy to hear anyone else's thoughts on this.

People are still living in 18's mentality when they had no options to learn other than going to school. We currently have cutting edge technologies, it is just that people are just not using them effectively.

nice. The problem with unschooling is in india you cannot get into local colleges without a school degree or even a job . Maybe in future you can . Also if you want to study abroad you have to show your degree.

1.He needs to be with children of his age for his mental development.

2. He needs to have basic knowledge in all subjects.( How can he find his favourite subject if he doesn't know it exists)

3.School is more than just studying

Studying English makes a great author! There is the whole IQ of these parents on a platter.

My parents started unschooling me after about three months of being in 1st grade. And it’s not for everyone, but i think it can be so beneficial for so many kids
Who can’t cope with the school system. I have so much respect for these parents for doing what is best for there children 😊
