I’m not sure what it is exactly but there’s so thing so different between this type of content (including his TikTok videos) and traditional food channels that focus on recipes. He focuses on cooking as if it’s an art and teaches the building blocks of flavors and techniques. As a home cook, this is the content that will turn me into someone who blindly follows recipes to a home chef!

Sad_papi, your content on TikTok is first-rate, your pacing is perfect-not to slow, not to fast and always SUPER informative. It’s SO refreshing seeing something other than dump-and-stir. None of the well-established content creators on here showcase the skillset you do, or if they do, they aren’t really using it that much. Like, sous vide is still cutting edge here. I think you are poised to capture a part of YT that is either ready to take their cooking to the next level, or will just REALLY enjoy watching how more high-end cooking is done. I can’t wait for more content from you on here where you don’t have to worry about keeping things under a minute, or rely on multiple segments. The one thing that I will strongly suggest for you to consider is creating your videos for YT in landscape orientation. One of the major differences between TT and YT is the orientation of our phone when creating and consuming content. Content on TT is meant to be created, edited, and consumed with your camera and screen in portrait orientation. YT started before our phones could make videos, so the ENTIRE platform is set up for your video to be in landscape orientation because that was the only way video was supposed to be shot in 2005. We luckily live in a time where our phones make perfectly fine video-you don’t NEED a dedicated camcorder, DSLR, or cinema camera to make awesome and successful content here, but the VAST majority of the successful content on here is in landscape orientation. Literally everything else else is gravy, the interesting intros, the aesthetically pleasing backdrops, the Lo-Fi Hip-Hop during slow motion b-roll… Actually, you don’t even need that in order to be successful here. Look at Food Wishes and a couple of the other OG creators. Heck, Kenji Lopez-Alt wears a GoPro on his head! Your content on YT can be a means to financial independence that TT will NEVER come even close to, but it’ll take A LOT of work learning the skills required for it, but if you do put that work in, you’ll be giving Andrew Rae a run for his money in no time, no if that’s what you’re looking to do. If I’m correct in my assumption from your TT content, you’re a professional chef working your way to the ranks of the world of haute cuisine, but like most of us, you’ve had a LOT of time on your hands since February/March, and you probably reached for the app of your generation to get your feet wet. While it is possible for professionals, especially photographers and music producers, to have thriving careers on here while still being in their chosen fields, haute cuisine is TOTALLY different in the sense that it’s not freelance work. With freelance work, having a thriving YT channel can be REALLY helpful, if not a necessity, during the time you’re waiting for your next gig. I would think that this is QUITE different for other professions like line cooks and chefs. But, much like creating a successful menu, as long as your content is on point, and your planning is good, you’ll freaking soar! One of my favorite photographers on here, Sean Tucker, gained 100, 000 subs with less than a dozen videos, spaced out 2 months from each other. And the only way he was able to do that is because those videos are immaculately crafted. So yeah, Sorry for the book I’ve published in your comments section, but I hope it helps in some way.

Love love love these long format videos! Tiktoks are good but i am really here for the step by step stuff! Maybe just do wide format since most YouTube isn’t viewed in vertical :) keep up the good work!!!

Great video, awesome job. I like that it's straight to the point, without being rushed so you can't follow. You also have a calming voice to listen to, so the narrated overhead shots work really well.

Incredible. Your approach towards cooking & what food means is not only fresh, but a major source of inspiration for me.

Would you ever consider doing videos about plating?

So glad you made a YouTube channel. My favorite thing about your TikTok is that it's more element focused rather than full recipe focused; really helps broaden the creativity.
