The sound from dual wielding two of these is satisfying to hear.

Also I wish we had seen this in Reach, the only Brute exclusive weapons in that game were (I think) the Spiker and Gravity Hammer. The Brutes were really overlooked in Reach weren't they, we didn't even get the Brute Shot.

Weapons like these perfectly encapsulate the philosophy and mindset of the Brutes, who rely less on precision and more on, well, brute force. I was pleased at how much characterization they were given in Halo 3 and ODST. They went from middling side-shows to replacing the Elites in a satisfying manner.

I think it's a bigger projectile, that fragments into 7, 9mm spikes. The UNSC shotgun(s) fire 8 gauge, which is like 21-22mm, corresponding to shot balls maybe 8-10mm in diameter. 7, 9mm fragmenting into even smaller pieces would be a peashooter, even if it was superheated.

the lemat revolver centerfire cartridge would've made a perfect basis for the mauler. both are handgun equivalent of shotguns.

Just some feedback, you said the mauler was semi automatic while describing it's function as automatic. One trigger pull, one shot shot fired is semi auto. The function stops. Automatic means as long as the trigger is held, the weapon continues to fire.

I know they arent technically canon, and there probably isnt much info to be found on them. But have you ever considered doing "most detailed breakdowns" of some of the unique weapons found in SPV3.3? (The single player overhaul of Halo CE)
