IGN News: Bayonetta 2 Devs Respond to Wii U Exclusivity Criticism

PlatinumGames has responded to fan criticism about Bayonetta 2 being a Wii U exclusive.

Uncharted, Last of US Metal Gear solid 4, Gran Tourismo and Killzone are all Sony Exclusives, Xbox fanboys arent complaining.

Gears of War, Halo, Forza MS are all MS exclusives,  Sony Fanboys aren't complaining.

Bayonetta 2 Wii U exclusive and funded by Nintendo since Sony and Microsoft didn't want it, nor did Sega want to fund it. Now both fanboys are crying like children. Anyhow I'll be enjoying Bayonetta 2 this Dec  on the Wii-U. Also Bayonetta 1 has been confirmed for Wii-U as well, so youre getting 2 games for 1 price.

JP Kellams said it best that he understands everyones frustatrations but he hates the pandering port begging. Hideki Kamiya himself told the port beggars to "F*** Off for Bayo 2"

Don't blame Nintendo, blame Sony and Microsoft and SEGA. Bayonetta 2 was saved by Nintendo and it will never be a timed exclusive. I have Bayonetta 1 for PS3 with the 8GB patch and you don't see me crying. I have a 360 for its exclusives, a PS3 for their exclusives and a Wii for their exclusives.

Heres the thing, if you want to play it, then get the console it's on. You buy Sony and Microsoft's consoles because it has a game you want to play on it. It makes no difference here.

People stop whining on B2, its already on wiiU, and if it wasn't for nintendo bayonetta would be dead by now, blame on sony or Microsoft for not getting B2 back on the game and stop blaming on nintendo,

Its not really arguable. There are already people who own a Wii and a PS3, 360. Nintendo isn't doing this soley to cater to those who only have one console. You need to get that out of your head. Besides that doesn't even make that all much sense when you look at the multiplatforming audience of today including PC gaming.

You're a PC gamer right? Than why a buy a new console. Save up some money for a new computer instead of making excuses.

For most people those games have already been out to a mainsteam audience. Just admit that it isn't going to wow another mainstream population because its already reached those numbers around the world. The content of those games have been uploaded to youtube.

Rereleasing older games isn't a legitimate excuse to promote a new system.

If anything it can still possibly backfire.

Oh I know all about that. PC has always been ahead of consoles. Not even the bigger 360 Wii U, or PS3 fanboy could debate that.

Theres no excuse though as to why it can't play ME3 at 1080p.

Complementing the Wii U by saying its twice as powerful isn't anything credible in my eyes. What makes it so good that it has the right to be said its twice as good as the other consoles. Please specifiy. Until then you are just being too vague.

Besides the tablet what can it offer than 360 PS3 can't?

I do feel I have to say this because I'm not a Nintendo Fanboy but its true, the publisher seems to have saved the project but at the cost of alienating the fanbase. The Wii U isn't a next gen console. Its a system that uses older tech so its strange to see Bay 2 come to Wii U after the first one was multiplatform.

Frankly I don't blame the people upset. Why should they go and buy a system just to purchase one game?

I like how you didn't get any of the point of that comment. I never said anyone was forcing anyone ro do anything I said it sucks that people who can't afford a Wii U or don't want one can't play it. That's all I said. That's like if COD became a Wii U exclusive when before it was multi-platform, and don't respond with some "That would never happen" shit I said "IF" it happened probability or possibility aren't a concern it's a what if.

I own a wii and I've been reading up on the new tech but I'm not going to let my feelings get hurt just because someone else doesn't agree with me entirely.

You should go back and do more research. Thats my advice. Look over statements from Nintendo staff like Reggie Fils-Aime.

Well, maybe because the original game came out on Xbox 360. A game that I loved. I will now not be able to purchase the sequel as that requires the purchase of a brand new console. Something which I cannot afford, not to mention it means they have to build an entirely new fanbase for their game on a new system. Platinum Games are the ones the the effed up logic. Not us.

so in other words, Sega wasn't interested in publishing Bayonetta 2, which probably meant Bayonetta 2 would not be possible. Until of course, Nintendo came into the picture and saved the project, on the condition of exclusivity. That's how I'm interpreting all that.

They're trying to reach the "Nintendo fans" and new gamers by releasing it on Wii U. You're actually making it sound different the way you ask... how will it make more people play it if you only are talking about the people who already had the first game for PS3/Xbox 360? ._.

Wrong. Nintendo wants to get into the hardcore market. They've already made that intention public. The Wii U's are essentially built for a mainstream audience. Not only that but they want to be what the PS3 and 360 already are.

They even redesigned a game controller after the current gen ones.

Its more like it isn't all that new. This is an era where ipads are common. While Tablets might be new in the use of gaming, the tech has already been established and we are well past day 1 uses.

The tablet controller in my opinion is a gimmick just like motion controls, and Xbox's Kinect.

Does it use the Unreal Engine 4? Why can't it play Mass Effect 3 in 1080p?

Why is it predominantly using older games as a template to sell its system.

Batman Arkham City and older games experiences won't be all that new.
