👈 Clickable LINKS to the exact carry-on in my bio!
🔗 Or type jo.my/travelgear into your browser

(They are general affiliate links, but to be clear, it’s the same place I bought mine in June 2020

• Travelpro didn’t sponsor this video, compensate me in any way, nor have they even responded to any of my emails or DMs requesting comment 😭

• I bought, researched, tested, interviewed, & edited everything myself bc apparently I’m allergic to doing things profitably

• Lastly, no brand would be willing to wait nearly 4 years for for a sponsored post to be published 😅)

💙 Thanks for watching! I'm a one-man team, so a Like and a Subscribe will always mean a ton to me

Magnetically aligning wheels sound crazy. I don’t need it, but man, do I wish I had it

Pilot here- travelpro is a cheap brand that we all hate. The reason many flight crew use it is NOT because they tested many bags and found the best one for their needs, but rather because travelpro SPONSORS the airlines, so that is the only option given to flight crew.

I had one that completely fell apart within one year. All the zippers broke within a few months, I had a wheel fall off, got it fixed, then another wheel fell off…

Luggage Works bags will survive a nuclear bomb, but they are heavy. I use a Tumi and love it. After 5 years of extremely heavy use, I’ve only replaced one wheel one time.

Nope. Lifetime warranty is a scam. They don’t acknowledge wear and tear like wheels or broken handle. YOU NEED TO PAY FOR REPAIR. Im a flight crew and the only reason we use Travelpro is because its company provided. The wheels dont last long, the handles start to wiggle after few months and we have to pay out of our own pocket for repair because THERE IS NO LIFETIME WARRANTY FOR TRAVELPRO!

I want a luggage that won't take up half the weight limit for carry-on luggage.

A warranty on luggage can go one of two ways. When I’ve claimed warranty a couple times they just shipped me the new one as soon as I reported a problem. But some luggage companies would make you send your damaged bag in to them which would be hundreds of dollars in postage and kind of kills the value.

My dad has had one for like 15 years and loves it. He has worked in sales the whole time and for a couple years he was going on a flight or 2 a week.

I’ve had my Travel Pro carryon for 19 years and it’s still holding up well! More pockets than you’d imagine and the quality is off the charts. Money well spent.

Crew members are not subject to bag weight restrictions. They also do not typically pack for a wide range of clothing options so they usually pack light. And finally, crew members are quite often offered fast (and sometimes free) laundry services at their hotels so again, no need to over pack.

I asked a friend who has been a pilot for 35 years. His one requirement: only 2 wheels.

He hates spinners, because they will roll away on any non-level surface. Because swivel wheels are bigger, the bag is smaller, in order to fit in the overhead bin. And the biggest peeve is that people have spinners, they walk with the bags beside them. If the bag has only 2 wheels, then you must pull the bag behind you, which was the point of the wheeled bag.

The one thing about asking pilots and flight attendants about luggage is they never check luggage so their luggage is not subjected to kind of abuse that passenger luggage is subjected to. It may very well be excellent luggage, but that’s the wrong recommendation to be looking for in my opinion.
