Dude you've got a major mistake in the video. Estonia did not "merge with Russia to fight the Germans". We were occupied by the Soviet Union

Factual error detected: Estonia never merged with Soviets against Germans. Estonia was invaded and occupied by the Soviets in 1940, after Soviet Union and Nazi Germany made pact and divided Europe into their spheres of influence. After Nazi Germany invaded Estonia as a part of its campaign against Soviet Union in 1941, Soviets were pushed out of Estonia, then in 1944 when Soviets were pushing Nazi Germans back and advancing into Estonia, Estonian people defended their land alongside Nazi Germans against the imminent Soviet take over. Soviets ultimately prevailed and retook Estonia, which they occupied until 1991, when Soviet Union collapsed and Estonia was able to restore its independence.

Estonia was never a part of Soviet Union, it was occupied by the Soviet Union. Being part of something means consent in participation in something. Estonia was a hostage, not a participant. Estonia was never recognized as part of Soviet Union by any country. Estonia's the only recognized and legitimate government continued to function in exile during Soviet occupation. Similarly you don't say that France was part of Third Reich, you don't say former Nazi France, or former Nazi Norway, or former Nazi Poland.

1) We did not merge with Russia. We were occupied by Russians because they made pact with Hitler (MRP). You know when they agreed to partition Poland (again) they also gifted Estonia to Russia.

2) Germans never went to Finland. Swedes did.

3) Muḩammad al-Idrīsī mentioned Tallinn ca 1154, then it was also added to map.

4) Tallinn did not become capital in 1991. Latest you can say is 1918.

"merged" with Soviet Union?
Currency has been Euro since beginning of 2011.

Poorly researched video

As an Estonian it's nice to see a video about Estonia. No one really knows about it. I'd love to see a part 2! I suggest talking about religions :)

Estonia is the least religious country in the world. We did not get such technical and cultural advancements in 20 YEARS by sitting in churches and praying for a miracle. Those who have lived here, tell tales of the extreme bi-polar nature of Estonians: cold, judging at first, but very hospitable and kind later. But thats what centuries of invasion and occupation does to a culture.

One thing to point out about the WWII part is that Estonia was occupied by Russia in 1940 and we didn't join the USSR freely. In 1944, many Estonians joined the 20. Estonian SS division, because they wanred to fight against Russia to restore their independence.

The country is so beautiful. It looks so classy like one of those old times. It doesn't seem like they have much traffic, air pollution and crime rates. So peaceful!

I dreamt of Estonia in my sleep, this ancient place. I woke up and I was not quite sure if that was a real place, a city or a country. I must have picked up the name in the news or something, couldn't figure it out. Had to look it up and that brought me here. It's so pleasant to find out about Estonia. And just as in my dream, it has "ancient" written all over it. What a nice discovery. All the way from Africa.
