DRUM COVER - Flight of the Foo Birds by Count Basie

Had a lot of fun playing this tune in high school jazz band, though I never had it completely down. I love the fills that Sonny Payne uses to set up the figures in the shout chorus at the end, along with his comping throughout the second half of the tune once he switches to sticks. It was a little difficult to match up with his comping through out the solos, but I tried to first and foremost pay attention to the soloists and stay out of the way while still comping along with their melodies. Enjoy!

Nice playing! Nice to see some younger drummers keeping this stuff alive! I did a video of this tune on an old Roland kit yrs ago. Keep swinging!
