CORRECTION: The Black Templar set actually gets you TWO of the sprues shown here. So pretty much the best value in terms of plastic for £££/$$$.
Thanks to all of you who pointed that out to me in the comments - much appreciated!

I collect Black Templars and yes I can confirm, the terminator shoulder pads do indeed fit on aggressors.

WHY IN THE NAME OF GOD do we not put helmets on our marines

One thing I kinda wish GW would release is a kit with just Melee weapon upgrades on it, since most of the special weapons for the armies are army specific.

The black templar kit is actually double that. You get two sets of sprues

I don't understand why they didn't continue with the Templar style frames, those had so many great little touches and the weapon options are great...
Now you're getting a few heads and a big "I don't wanna use decals/freehand" sign

The Black Templars is by far the best value. You get double the sprues that you mentioned (so 20 shoulder pads etc) and you also get a vehicle customisation kit with custom doors for Rhinos and Land Raiders.

Something I would like to point out is that the Blood Angels upgrade sprue allowed me to make a unique captain out of spare bits I already had. I used the head and chest bit to make a guy that looks unique and really stands out. So the sprue could pay for itself if you already have spare bits. I don't need to spend $30 on a captain model now, and he's entirely unique to my army.

Especially expensive when your already paying for plain shoulder pads in the original kits, which wont get used.

Thanks for the video. I appreciate the comparisons you do between all of the different upgrade kits.

For Deathwatch, the Terminator armour pads require sanding to fit as the “back” facing vertical raised part often doesn’t fit with the pose of Aggressors or Inceptors as the space is far too tight.

I’ve had to carve this section off which is a shame but necessary.

Similarly, if using the gravis pads from any of these kits on the right old-heraldry shoulder, the raised section faces the wrong way and you encounter the same problem.

An FYI for fellow bug-hunters.

I have never seen anybody talk about these but this was something I seriously thought about for my marines. Thanks for another great video! The range of topics is super helpful for new players.

Thank you for calling out the Ultramarines Primaris kit for its lack of Ultarmarines specific stuff, also I mean auspex? I have like 1000 auspex from marine kits don't need it taking up space on sprue. Really hope they at least repackage the primaris upgrades with 1 frame to match the later released sets with 2 frames plus decals.

Cool video, I appreciate going through all these kits because I’ve actually bought the Iron Hands and Space Wolf (tactical) sprues myself. Didn’t realize some of the options were less value so it’s good to see the full breakdown. Funnily enough as soon as value was mentioned I actually thought my Iron Hands one was one of the better options and turns out it is indeed probably the best. I’d like to pick up the Imperial Fists one as it has some good head options and I can use most of it for a heresy era army I’m working on. I’ll probably pick up the primaris Space Wolves kit eventually too since I’m a huge Space Wolves fan. Even with it being less value the heads are kinda cool and the arm drawing the knife is a pretty awesome bit. Dark Angels are especially disappointing since they used to have an old upgrade kit like the Templars which was awesome. I have the Black Templars upgrade kit but haven’t tried Terminator shoulder pads on Gravis armor yet, partly because I haven’t built any Aggressors yet and partly because I wasn’t sure which chapter they’d be. I’ll try fitting them together when I get the chance and see if they work.

I love my blood angels one. Helped complete my marines AND aggressors. Definitely makes them stand out and help with accessories!

There used to be an upgrade frame for Iron Hands for firstborn marines. It also contained a thunder hammer. Its been discontinued since, but I still have an unopened blister of resin sprues.

Hi there, wondering in the future if you'll be covering Chaos FW Upgrades as well? Such as Alpha Legion, Thousand sons etc.
Love the content!

There's also the ravenwing upgrade sprue which is mostly for bikes, landspeeders, and dreadnoughts but has some other useful bits on it if I recall.

I’m pretty sure the reason the first ultramarine one you showed was lacking embossing was to be a little bit more universal because it came out way before the rest of the primaris upgrade packs.
