The great Sandy Denny the only person ever to sing on record with Zep, sadly gone but never forgotten, she made this track what it is, they should have done much more with her .

The great thing about Zeppelin is that they are both ancient and modern.

John Paul Jones's mandolin and Sandy Denny's voice make this something very special

Apart from the storytelling and brilliant musicianship, this song has an ethereal quality that just transports you to another time and place

This is by far my favorite zeppelin song. The mandolin is just beautiful..

This is in Led Zeppelin IV, the first album I ever got. And every time I listen to this song it always takes me back to being 8 and driving with my mum and dad through the hills of Scotland. That echoey sound immersed me in the song as I was in awe of the immense scale of the mountains, it sounded as if they were actually singing through the valleys. Such a beautiful song.

It’s like they went to the space between man and gods to make this album, some of it sounds like it could be 500 years old

This song makes you want to go back in time and reunite with long lost friends, especially those who died young, but of course you can't.

Best group that ever existed. No one can compete with these guys. Hands down. Absolutely amazing!

One of the most amazing things I think about LZ is that they never made songs to just "fulfill" the album... I mean, every song is a masterpiece on itself... (Sorry for the bad English).

The Legend of Zeppelin: Mandolina of Time

Queen of Light took her bow
And then she turned to go,
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom
And walked the night alone.
Oh, dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morn-ing light.
The dark Lord rides in force tonight
And time will tell us all.
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe,
Rest not to lock your homes.
Side by side we wait the might
Of the darkest of them all.
I hear the horses' thunder
Down in the valley below,
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon,
Waiting for the eastern glow.
The apples of the valley hold
The seeds of happiness,
The ground is rich from tender care,
Repay, do not forget, no, no.
Oh, dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the morning light.
The apples turn to brown and black,
The tyrant's face is red.
Oh the war is common cry,
Pick up you swords and fly.
The sky is filled with good and bad
That mortals never know.
Oh, well, the night is long
The beads of time pass slow,
Tired eyes on the sunrise,
Waiting for the eastern glow.
The pain of war cannot exceed
The woe of aftermath,
The drums will shake the castle wall,
The ringwraiths ride in black,
Ride on.
Sing as you raise your bow,
Shoot straighter than before.
No comfort has the fire at night
That lights the face so cold.
Oh dance in the dark of night,
Sing to the mornin' light.
The magic runes are writ in gold
To bring the balance back.
Bring it back.
At last the sun is shining,
The clouds of blue roll by,
With flames from the dragon of darkness
The sunlight blinds his eyes.
Oh, bring it back, bring it back...

The thing about Led Zep is that they can be Heavy, and on the other hand tell epic stories
