Pecan tree pruning, end of second year. #farming #pecans #pruning

Показать описание
As I slowly make my way through the Orchard, I have come to the trees that were planted two years ago. I did not get all them pruned last year nor did I cut them back appropriately when I planted them. Because of that, I am aggressively pruning them this year in order to "catch up". It is important to prune them back in order for their root system to grow strong enough to be able to support the tree and provided the needed nutrients. A large portion of the roots are cut off when the trees are harvested from the nursery. Cutting the tree back, allows the roots to grow at a more even pace with the top of the tree.
