All I’m saiyan is, if Gohan can go SS2 after watching a robot he doesn’t know die, then Vegeta should’ve went SS2 upon seeing his son die, whom he trained with for a year and became attached to (although he would hate to admit that)

Vegeta may not have achieved SSj2 in this moment, but if you compare Gohan's jump in strength from watching Android 16's death, and Future Trunks jump in strength from just seeing his father a little beat up, there is no contest. Future Trunk contested an opponent that is a match for SSj Blue Vegitto, in Super Saiyan 2, just powered by the rage of his heritage. A SSJ royal blue rage form trunks could body the entire Z squad.

I always forget how Cell effortlessly made all of Super Saiyan 1's forms look so meak and insufficient. Even putting a weakened SS 2 Gohan on his toes on his return to earth after killing Goku. Crazy that DBZ didn't end at the amalgamation of the Universes best known warriors at the time. Definitely provided the perfect end to Goku's story for the most part, even arguably Gohan's since his character arc kind of ended here. It least with the hindsight of how Toriyama handled Gohan anyways.
