I was a catechumen in ROCOR for about 3-4 months. I feel like that was the minimum I needed but thanks to God, my priest, and my local congregation I was made ready in that time. It’s a very important period and should never be rushed!

I was a typical socialist college grad when I looked into Orthodoxy. Spent 3 years as a catechumen and am 100% a different person after. Now I know why the old standard of the church used to be 3 years

Father bless, but I have a question, how do I stop hating?? I see atheists, pagans, and, unfortunately, sometimes Protestants who make a mockery of our Lord and the Theotokos! They mock Him and call Him names, and the Protestants have called the Theotokos a woman who is in no way worthy of veneration. When I see this, I feel nothing but genuine hate, and I despise this feeling as it makes me aggressive for the rest of the day, as well as it hurts my soul!! Please, I need your help!

Interesting...this is so different from the way it was done in the NT. In those early days of Christianity baptism was done upfront and sanctification and growth came after that.

Man…3 years to get ready to be baptized. Guess the Ethiopian on the road had already had a head start when he asked to be baptized on the spot and the Saint agreed.

You receive Christ by faith and are washed by His blood and you walk with Him over the course of your whole life. Baptize as soon as you can and allow Holy Spirit to lead you in all things. This is a dangerous teaching.
