How to catch coral trout using SLOW PITCH JIGGING techniques - Whitsunday Islands

Heres a "how to" on rigging and using slow pitch jigs to catch Coral Trout in the Whitsunday islands region.

This particular day I dropped the kids to school then put the tinny in to take advantage of a nice weather window. We fished the lower Smith group of islands and worked our way south picking up a nice feed of trout along with sweetlip, cobia, trevally and a tuna, all before school pick up at 3. I explain the basics of slow pitch which is a very effective way to catch a huge variety of demersal/reef species in North Queensland waters, I also run through the strongest rigging technique, setting up your drift and a few other bits of advice to help you guys fish slow pitch jigs effectively.

Tackle Used:-

Rod - Oceans Legacy Slow Element Pe 3
Reel - Ocea Jigger 1500HG Limited
Line - Sunline Siglon X8 Pe 3
Leader - Sunline System Shock 100lb
Featured Jigs - Oceans Legacy Hybrid Contact & Palms/Zets Slow Blatt R 100 both were rigged with the ever reliable BKK Sea Ranger assists in the 2XL size.

Feel free to hit the comment section if you have any more questions and I'll do my best to get you sorted.

Cheers

Hello fellow fisherman.
I did asc about loosing jig as it can happen, and the more you jig during drifting the chance to get hook in the reef exist.

What about the garmin FF you use..

What model.
What is the power of the transducer ?

Hi mate, I enjoyed the vid so I subscribed and gave a thumbs up. Those were some nice catch and I’ll be looking forward to see a clean and cook soon. I was wondering however, if it’s ok to place hooks to both ends of the lure. Thanks much!

Hi there.

Can you state the spec / model of the rod and line / brand line? I didn’t quite understand with the wind noise.

And, what is the name of round handle installed in the reel?

And, I didn’t quite understand the logic using the sea anchor over the electric motor. Can you please articulate this logic?

Thanks

Cameron

Hey mate a quick question, do you tie off to the solid ring attached to the assist hooks or do you add a separate solid ring to the jig?
