Theres actually an access cover on later gen 3 models that gains you access to the nuts for the top of the shocks. Doesnt require ripping apart all the interior trim to get access.

The video is detailed enough so that I feel confident that I can do it my self so I ordered the parts. Good video and will let you know what I think of the parts. Should be here in a few days.

I like that you plugged the tool sizes while you worked. My biggest frustration in most repair/diy videos.

IF YOU HAVE A 2012-2015 PRIUS
YOU DON'T NEED TO REMOVE THE PANELS LIKE IN THE VIDEO
IT HAS PLASTIC COVER TO REMOVE TO HAVE ACCESS TO SHOCK NUT
THIS IS WILL SAVE YOU A LOT OF TIME
2010-2011 PRIUS DON'T HAVE THIS COVER AND NEED TO REMOVE PANELS

Great video. I did both shocks while replacing my brakes today. Only thing that was different for me was the hex bit both on my old and new shocks was 6mm, not 5mm.

On my 2011 the bottom nut was designed to bite in. Removing the bolt without trying to turn the nut was how it was meant to be done.

I like the way the mechanic tells you what he is doing as he is doing it. Very professionally done!

How often are you supposed to change the shocks on a gen 3 prius?

I am able to access everything having the rear end on ramps. Do you absolutely have to lift the wheel up to change the strut?

When I brake fast or go in reverse and go back into drive and press the brake my front makes a clonk noise. I changed to sway bar links thinking that was the problem but I guess not. What can it be??the clonking ain’t as bad though since I replaced the links cause they were done

My 2012 has two access plugs on each side panel to remove the top nut of the shock. That avoid 90% of the work.
