Contact Form 7 Multiple File Upload Functionality Quick & Easy [Still works in 2023!]

The first step is to add a new plugin. Type “CF7 Multifile Upload” into the search bar in the “Add New” section of the “Plugins” tab and the plugin we want will be the only one available.

This plugin has a message at the bottom saying it is untested in the current version of WordPress. Even if it was showing up as compatible with the current version of WordPress, it’s a good idea to backup our website just in case. You never know and it’s always better to be cautious.

Next, click “Install Now” and then Activate to get the plugin running. Now we can go into any pre-existing or new Contact Form 7 form to find a new button in the editor called “Multifile”.

Click in the editor where you want to the file upload element to appear. Then click on the Multifile button.

The multifile dialog box will appear.

In the name field, the name you enter will only be seen by you and it’s good to create a descriptive name.

The file size can be determined by using a byte converter to change megabytes into an amount of bytes. There are many byte converters available. The one I commonly use is this one.

The acceptable file types need to be separated with a pipe character | (shift + ). The remaining fields are not required, so you can skip through them to click on the “Insert Tag” button.

Now you’ll see a shortcode added to the form editor. Now Save your form.

Next, open the “Mail” tab to add the shortcode for the new multi-file upload into the “File Attachments” field. At the top of the Mail tab you should see the shortcode for the field you just created. Copy it.

Spent literally the whole day and evening learning about cf7 today. Big thanks to you, Sir! For anyone looking for a comprehensive free contact form, this is definately the one. Not the easiest to confiqure straight out the box but well worth the extra effort. I Started off using ninjaforms, then changed to wpforms and also look at happyforms. The reason I became interested in cf7 was for its free, file upload option. Initially installed the multifile plugin but still could'nt configure it to look nice. So went back to single upload and just added it 3 times. (Enough for my forms needs). It looks alot cleaner too and less complicated to the end user. Each file is clearly shown in and with its own upload section. Give cf7 a chance, spend some time with it and you too will have an awesome contact form. Just wanted to get that out there. Once again, thanks for the valuable videos! Keep up the great work! Ps. If anyone has issues with the upload file button being in another language, it's more than likely due to your computers language browser setting.

Great videos. Thank you for making them. Do you know if mobile device cameras can be used to capture images using a Contact Form 7 field? Is there a plug-in or a way to do it?

Hi, I appreciate this is an old tutorial but hopefully the question is still relevant. Is there a way to add a Label to each Upload? For example, I want the customer to be able to upload 5 images. There are specific Upload elements on the form e.g. Image 1 Upload, Image 2 Upload etc. When the attachments come through on email the reference to which Image Upload (Image 1, 2, 3 etc) this was from is not available. I can assume that it is in the order they were uploaded but can each Attachment be given a Name?

Hello, thanks for the tutorial, but I don't find the multiple file upload option in the version I have now of Contact Form 7.

I just copied and paste the file shortcode, now the form has 5 choose file.

I have the Spanish version though, I don't know if they didn't put it in this one which I don't think so. Do you know if they changed this? Thanks.

Hi, I do have a question. I have created a Microsoft Word fillable form with dropdown fields, text field, etc but I would like to upload the form to my website without breaking the Integrity of the form. But whenever a customer fills out the form and send it, it generates a PDF version of the form where it would be sent to my email. Is there a way to do this ?

HI, i have a question about WPCF7.I have to insert this tag <img height=1 width=1 border=0
for track how many conversions result from people in the message that appears after clicking on the submit button “Your message has been sent successfully. Thanks for contacting us” I thought of inserting it with the plugin editor: contact form 7 / Contact form template.php. It's right? IF it is not correct, how can I insert the tag without creating problems for cf7?

Thanks for your video. I duly receive copy of sent message in my mail box but there is no zip file attached. Do you have an idea of the origin of this issue ? Thanks.

Thanks for the tutorial, very good. I seem to have followed your instructions to the letter, the settings seemed to have been retained for multifile attachments, but the contact form is only accepting single files. Here is what I entered:

<label> Your Name (required)
[text* your-name] </label>

<label> Your Email (required)
[email* your-email] </label>

<label> Subject
[text your-subject] </label> Attach Files [multifile multifile-794 limit:5242880

<label> Your Message
[textarea your-message] </label>

[submit "Send"]

Then I checked that the 'mail' tab was showing the multifile code and it was - [multifile-794] - this was at the top and in the file attachments box.
