The brutal cost of Williams’s shocking F1 crash streak

The start of the Formula 1 season has been particularly unkind for Williams - with a run of three major crashes across two far-away weekends in Melbourne and Suzuka placing a massive burden on the rebuilding outfit.

In addition to the heavy financial brunt of the accident itself and the embarrassment of running just one car in the Australian GP, Williams won't be able to to escape the major knock-on effects - from the exaggerated travel costs (particularly unwelcome in the cost cap era) and ramped-up workload to the potential effects on its overall 2024 development.

Join us for a closer look at its very particular situation.

Aside from all that, we need to recognize how perfect that Duracell branding location is.

Williams might need to add a maintenance and repair depot in Singapore at this rate

It is kinda scary even for the driver. Imagine, 3 crashes in 4 races and there are still 20 races plus sprints remaining. The pressure on the drivers not to crash is enormous from now on.

It reminds me of the 2009 f1 season with brawn gp only having enough budget for 3 chassis for the entire season, while other teams had double or triple that amount (mclaren had 8), and Button and Barichello had to drive an entire season crash free, and not only did they (mostly) succeed but they won the constructor's and driver's title that year, with Button running in the same chassis the whole season.

At this point, Williams may as well ask DHL for a sponsorship. Thats a lot of DHL shipments back and fourth for chassis.

I’m still glad Williams is taking these risks, they could’ve just done a simple evolution and stayed safe like they had been doing for the last 10yrs. But that would’ve guaranteed P10 in constructors.

Now they will have to use free open office, excel is to expensive.

Williams turning into Car Repair Simulator 24

albon's 2023 was stellar, the fact that both drivers are struggling this year to keep the car on track is concerning

Williams can barely field 2 cars consistently, and Sauber can't design a wheelnut properly, but Andretti wouldn't be competitive. Not to mention Alpines abject failure of team. F1 is a joke, and I hope everyone remembers this.

I mean Sargeant really shouldn't be in the firing line. He's had one very minor crash and Alex has had 2 very major crashes. I do think the media likes to pile on Logan when any mistake is made at all

Makes one question the F1 statement denying Andretti because of performance concerns. Williams is a storied team and they can’t get their stuff together.

The cost of shipping the chassis' back for inspection/repair and add in the carbon footprint...Williams is really blowing up!

logan got up to 11th place for awhile and made some decent passes, but they had a bad pit stop and it all kind of fell apart after that.

whats brutal is using Logan in the thumbnail when 90% of the damage was caused by alex.

Yet Andretti is being blocked from entering their own team because "They won't add value to the sport."

damn, but Andretti doesn't have the "infrastructure" to produce a car worthy of the F1 grid. sheesh

It’s crazy how the bottom three teams are all at the bottom for a completely different vital reason. Alpines car is a tractor, Sauba can’t do pit stops, and Williams can’t stop hitting the wall

Williams can't even bring a spare car, but Andretti Cadillac wouldn't be competitive enough for the sport.

Spent a good 30 seconds thinking a track was being outlined in blue at 6:12 😂 high speed sectors 1 and 3 with a twisty set of chicanes in the middle?
