These have been around for a while (I'd say at least 10 years for the erasable pens version). The ink disappears with heat, so just be careful not to leave your books too close to a heater for too long.

It's due to heat (or in this case heat friction of erasing). I use the pens when I sew to mark things, then when I iron them the lines disappear. If you want them to reappear, just throw the book in thr freezer for an hour and your highlighting will come right back. 😉

A tip is to wait a bit before erasing for the highlighter to dry. It’s easier to erase that way

I have Frixion pens! I’m guessing the highlighters work in a similar way.

That eraser isn’t actually an eraser. It’s there to create heat via friction. At one time, I had a monthly planner made to be used with Frixion pens and you erased the entries to start a new month by either putting the journal in the microwave or pointing a hair dryer at the pages. It’s so cool! 👍🏾

The ink turns invisible with heat. Get it close to an incandescent light bulb, or a blow dryer on hot, or sobering and the same thing will happen.

I use these, just let the ink dry completely, and don’t let the eraser tips get dirty from graphite, dust, extra.

Want another suggestion? Have you ever heard of highlighter tape. It’s like tape but it comes in like stripes and you can pull it off and stick it to highlight things they come in cute colours absolute life savers if you don’t want to write in your book but still want to highlight. ❤
