ABOUT THE VOICE
The four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series "The Voice" returns with multi-Grammy-nominated Cuban-born singer-songwriter and actress Camila Cabello claiming her red chair alongside superstar returning coaches John Legend, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani. Carson Daly returns as host for Season 22.

The show's innovative format features four stages of competition: Blind Auditions, Battle Rounds, Knockouts and Live Performance Shows. This season's Battle Advisors include Charlie Puth (Team Camila), Jazmine Sullivan (Team Legend), Jimmie Allen (Team Blake) and Sean Paul (Team Gwen). For the first time ever, the third phase of the competition will include three-way knockouts.

In the Live Performance Shows, the top artists will compete against each other weekly during a live broadcast, and the television audience will vote to save their favorite artists. In the end, one artist will be named "The Voice" and receive the grand prize of a recording contract.

I hope that people watching appreciate just how difficult the first performance was to pull off. The song shifts through so many major and minor chords during all of the harmonies that if one of the three was off by even a half-pitch, it would have broken the chord, hence why judges jaws met judges floors. Perhaps the best example of this is at 0:45, where the girl goes up one octave over the tenor and the third singer takes a major third of the chord, and it just sounds RIGHT. You can especially hear the harmornizing at 1:04, when the first, third, and fifth of the chord are brought in one at a time and it's just spot on. No autotune can do that, that is sheer, raw, talent, and three sets of very finely tuned throats and ears.

In a choir, you can miss a pitch and the overall volume of the choir drowns it out. Solo, you miss a pitch, everyone knows, and even the best will sometimes miss. Duets, trios, quintets (acappella grounps), you can't hide, so to nail it so dead on perfect with each note.... highest level of praise for them 👏

EDIT: I also love that John Legend has such a good ear that he adds an octave fourth to the chord at 1:26 with a glissando up to it :P
