GOODMAN ZONE: 3D printed medium format camera

How to assemble the pre printed Goodman Zone?

The Goodman Zone is a 3D printed medium format camera designed and manufactured in the Goodman Lab.
The camera is compatible with Mamiya Press Lenses, and with our helical lens adapter you can attach a wide range of other large and medium format lenses. The film back is RB67 pro-s compatible, or you can mount our 3D printed 6x6 magazine.
It’s a lightweight yet durable camera in order to be easy to carry everywhere and to use it in every condition. That's why we recommend it for street photographers or outdoor photographers. The Zone camera body has many attachment points that allow you to customise your camera with our various accessories such as grip, flash mount, viewfinder and many more.

The Goodman Lab provides all the 3D files open source for everyone, you can easily get access to them for free after registering on the website as a member. If you don't own a 3D printer you can order one of the camera kits.

Hello, I came across your website by chance as I was searching for information to create my medium format camera through 3D printing. You have truly done a splendid job, and I noticed that there is an open-source area on your site, but it's not accessible without registration. I tried registering with different emails and also through my Facebook account, but I haven't received the confirmation email in any of my accounts (I also checked spam and filters). Even with Facebook registration, I receive a message stating that this type of registration is not possible due to an "app" issue. I assume it's a website plugin that isn't functioning properly. I hope I've done something helpful by reporting these issues, and I hope you can resolve this inconvenience. Looking forward to being able to register on your site, I wish you a Happy New Year in advance.

I have recently been watching several videos about these Goodman cameras. I had assumed there was some international corporation behind these release. I had no idea this was the genius creation of a single person. I have seen a couple models demonstrated. Quite amazing. Does anyone know if there is a Goodman model that accepts a Instax film pack? I have seen various hacks for this but all are beyond my skill level to assemble.

Is this project still going? I'm not getting any response when inquiring about the open-source files.

In general the assembly instructions are adequate, but there are several gaps in getting together correctly the first time. Putting in the M3 nuts in first is clearly an error. They don’t stay in and go flying about when you try to put in the M4 nuts and screws. Save those until later. Dora says to put two M4 screws on the side, but never identifies which side she means. Also the inside of the camera body is still very shiny and scatters a lot of light. Same goes for the bright zinc coated screws I received. So spraying the inside with flat black paint is a must if you want to avoid image flare and loss of contrast.

This is awesome Dora.
The presentation is so neat and the quality of the accessories looks great.
I'm so excited to get mine with the Carbon Fiber foils!
Thanks for making this possible for those of us without access to a 3D printer.

Did I miss in the folder where to get the screw inserts and all that jazz?

This is the first time I have seen this product. Most of the explanation given is that this camera is based on the RB67 back. I only the M645 series in my collection. Also, the lens mention talks about "press lens". I have Mamiyapress lens and I would like to know if your kit would accommodate them. I have printed in 3D other camera items in the past.

I'm very new to film photography so these questions will sound dumb to some, but how does one focus with this camera? Is it only possible with the app or the focusing screen?

Can someone explain why someone would use this over a Mamiya Press camera?

good prototype, but would be nice to have something made in metal, stainless or titanium, perhaps, (hint, these can be 3D printed as well, using a 'metal' printer, instead of a plastic one!) this would aleviate some need for nuts (as the thread could be tapped directly into it), and may facillitate some use of thumb screws, or even a bayonett mounting for the lenses, it is a bit awkward to change a lens in the field if it is screwed to the camera ( the Fuji GF617 panoramic camera has hand-knobs for the lens top hat mounting boards!!).

your products are amazing! Really impressive stuff. Only issue I have with your brand is the website. It's hard to tell what you're getting without at item description
