He may not have been famous but these writers and performers knew Jerry Seinfeld. He was known inside Hollywood & entertainment industry. This is definitely an on the nose Seinfeld impression

Jerry Seinfeld wasn't even especially famous when they did this bit and yet one of the most famous actors in the world is roasting him on Saturday night TV . Must have felt weird!

I remember seeing this skit in 1985 and I did not know whom they are imersonating since Jerry Seinfeld was not that famous at the time. I thought they were doing a generic stand up comedian. Now I see a poster of Leno and Sienfeld on the wall behind them.
