Why Klay Thompson Left: The Story of a Broken Brotherhood

Not many basketball players in the NBA stay with one team for the majority of their careers nowadays. The Golden State Warriors are a different breed. They formed a true brotherhood between players that had their big 3: Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson playing there for many years. They built a winning culture. Tensions started to build between Klay Thompson and the front office, which caused Thompson to finally leave and sign with the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs were a surprising choice which left many wondering "why there?" What went wrong on the Warriors to cause this separation?

Thank you everyone for watching! We truly appreciate the support. I would like to clear some things up:

As a brand new channel we are still ironing things out. We now know after publishing this video that some images aren’t accurate. We will continue to get better and strive to be the best basketball channel on YouTube, which we are confident we will achieve. Making mistakes and learning from them all play a part in the process of an early channel on YouTube.

We would like to end with this: The voice you hear in the video is a real human voice. It is NOT AI. Nothing in our creating process is AI.

Once again thanks for all the love and support!

I said the warriors were going to regret paying Draymond because that means they prioritized him over Klay and Draymond is a system player.

THE WARRIORS STUCK WITH KLAY FOR TWO YEARS WHILE HE WAS TRYING TO RECOVER FROM MAJOR INJURIES! WAS NEVER THE SAME ONCE HE CAME BACK! HIS EGO BECAME BIGGER THAN HIS WORTH!! AND I'M A HUGE KLAY FAN!

There is no loyalty in professional sports. A player remains or leaves the team based on monetary considerations.

Klay and the Warriors both did wrong. But I do think Klay needs to humble himself a little. He’s not the same player now. Great video!

You all forget draymon has done more damages to the warriors than klay decide to leave the drama king

Now what's going to happen if Klay doesn't have his mojo? The Warriors would have his back, regardless of his position on the team. The Mavs don't have that history with him, so will they stand by?

Klay has never been the same since he came back from his two year injury out the game. Charles Barkley called him out on the air which Klay responded with a forty plus game. Exactly one game. Then immediately sunk back to increasing diminishing returns. The Warriors and Kerr left him in the starting rotation far longer than any organization would have and his past accomplishments, his amazing resume and team loyalty toward him gave him more second chances than should have been alloted. It all culminating into his embarrassing grand stage disaster playoff outing scoring zero points despite playing the entire game. The Warriors kept investment in him despite the lack of results and ever decreasing productivity even off the bench cost The Warriors and Curry two years for another ring they can't get back. It boggles the mind then when athletes conveniently forget all this at the negotiation table. The Mavs signed a sinking ship. He is going to be an expensive bench warner for Luka.

I've been a warriors fan since 91... We had a good team in the 90s with Hardaway, Mullin, Mitch and Webber... but I also lived through all the horrible teams... I was still a fan when Monta Ellis was our star and we had a stupid power ranger holding a lightning rod for a logo. I'm just grateful for the run we had.... Not even remotely mad... 🤷✅💯🏆💪🥇

Basketball for dummy terms: he wanted more than he was worth at the end of his contract.

Still one of the all-time greats. Had one hell of a career regardless.

He left because he has not been an elite player for over four years now, and he gets paid like an all star. Dallas will end up bringing him off the bench

As a Warriors fan, it's disappointing to see Klay's time with Golden State end like this. The video was great, though. I really appreciated how it showed the timeline of klay's relationship with the team.

Klay got paid max money for 2 years he didn’t play, then got offered double what he is making with Dallas but was offended. Richard Jefferson told a story about seeing Klay at Christmas and Klay complaining about his money then, while he was playing poorly. Plus the new cba doesn’t allow teams to reward players because going over the cap is devastating to a franchise.

Klay Thompson got caught in a new CBA. There was no betrayal, but Klay does like his drama. You’re also showing Bob Myers, and he hasn’t been the GM for a couple of years.
